  • If These Walls Could Talk: The Colomb Home

If these walls could talk, they would tell a story of quiet sacrifice, deep roots, and a love that chose presence over convenience. Russell and Beverly Colomb didn’t begin their life together at 109 Sidney—they were led here. When Beverly’s mother fell ill, they moved into the family home to care for her. Beverly, an only child, had inherited the house, a place already rich with history. Her father, cautious and protective, had built the home with double walls out of fear of hurricanes—an act of love that still stands today. Just six months after they arrived, Beverly’s mother passed away… but instead of leaving, Russell and Beverly stayed. They chose to make the house their own, slowly modernizing it while preserving the strength and story within its walls.

Russell, one of eight children and a General Manager for General Electric, had spent much of his life moving from place to place. But here, at 109 Sidney, they put down lasting roots. The backyard still holds echoes of family life—like the three pine trees Beverly once joked her father should have cut down when they were no taller than their grade-school grandson, Garry. Today, Garry stands as the steward of this home, preparing to pass it on to its next chapter. Nearly a century of life, love, and legacy has filled this space—and now, it waits for the next family to write what comes next.
